Save The California Condor

The California condor is generally found in the areas near California and Arizona. Their system would be aerial, as they are birds, and fly in the air. Traditionally they lived all along the west coast, up to British Columbia, lived south along Texas, and even up to Florida and New York. However they started to diminish in size 10,000 years ago from now, and today they are only found in select areas of California and Arizona.

Species Profile
In the 1980’s there were only around 27 of them in the wild, but the US government made an initiative to capture all of the birds, and to breed them in captivity, so their population can increase in number. They were bred in zoos such as the San Diego Zoo. The population has since increased, to more than 400, and they have even been reintroduced to the environment, in Arizona and in California.

This map shows the areas where the California condor lives. They used to inhabit a large section of North America.

This graph shows the trend in the rise of the population of this bird. Although this bird is making a recovery, it is still endangered, and needs to be protected.
